Working from Home – new claiming for expenses

Tax Practitioners Board Update – for those working from home, you would normally be claiming in your end of year tax return for any hours you used your home for any remote workings.

This was calculated as 52 cents per hour to cover the cost of power and heating etc.

The ATO has now increased this to 80 cents per hour for additional expenses relating to the new working from home model that many are adopting to.
